Karen has an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Florida Institute of Technology, a B.A. from the University of Oregon, and 18 years management experience in Human Resources. She has been certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) since 2008, a Certified HealthCare Reform Specialist (CHRS) since 2013, and recently became a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRMCP). Currently, Karen is the Head of Human Resources for SatCom Direct, the leading provider of global communications services, support and technology for business and general aviation. In a volunteer capacity, Karen is the President of the South Brevard Society for Human Resource Management. Prior to these roles, Karen was theAssociate Vice President of Human Resources for Florida Institute of Technology, one of the premier private research institutes in the nation, and was the Chair of the Human Resources Advisory Council for ICUBA- Independent College and University Benefits Association- a MEWA headquartered in Orlando, FL. In her spare time, she is an avid runner, Adjunct Faculty teaching management courses, married to her high school sweetheart and raising two girls, age 9 and 14. Her generalist background combined with her Certified Healthcare Reform Specialist designation has led her to be one of the premier mentors in healthcare reform in her industry.
