Soeren Mattke MD, DSc is a Senior Scientist and the Managing Director of RAND Health Advisory Services, the consulting practice of RAND Health. Dr. Mattke is an expert in innovative programs to prevent and manage chronic diseases at the workplace. He has worked with numerous disease management and workplace wellness program vendors on program design, performance measurement and reporting of impact. He was the lead author of a Report to Congress on Workplace Wellness that summarized the finding from a national survey of employers on wellness programs and an evaluation of several programs. He was the senior author of 2014 Health Affairs paper on PepsiCo’s health management program and published numerous other papers and reports on health-related benefits and programs at the workplace. Dr. Mattke was an advisor to the World Economic Forum on its Working towards Wellness project that brings large multinational firms, such as Nestle, British Telecom and PepsiCo, together to develop innovative workplace health interventions. Prior to coming to RAND, Dr. Mattke worked at the OECD in Paris on benchmarking healthcare systems in industrialized countries, in the healthcare practice of Bain & Company in Boston, at Abt Associates, a policy consulting firm in Cambridge, MA, and at Harvard University. He trained as an internist and cardiologist at the University of Munich and got his doctoral degree in health policy at Harvard.
