Dr. Daniel Ober was appointed Chief Medical Director- Medical Officer for Cigna Global Health Benefits in 2010. In this role, Dr. Ober is responsible for the development of innovative, effective and cost-effective clinical strategies, wellness initiatives and quality medical care products and services to enhance the health and well-being of Cigna’s globally mobile population. Dr. Ober also leads the clinical and strategic leadership of Cigna’s Key Global Accounts. In this role, he directly supports Key Global Accounts in an effort to meet their unique global strategic medical goals and objectives. Dr. Ober joined Cigna in 2001 and has served in a number of roles, including National Medical Director for Cigna HealthCare National Accounts. For this position he promoted health and wellness initiatives and health care integration, as well as actively managed clinical outcomes by identifying improvement opportunities, managing costs, and supporting highest quality initiatives. Dr. Ober has also held leadership roles in Health Advocacy, Credentialing, Quality and Medical Management.
Prior to joining Cigna, Dr. Ober served as Professor, Director of Medical Education, and Family Practice Program Director at Dartmouth Medical College. Before Dartmouth, he was in private practice in Amherst, New Hampshire where he practiced Family Medicine, Obstetrics, and Hospice Care.
Dr. Ober earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Anselm College and graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine as Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He did his internship at Warren Hospital and completed his residency at Warren Hospital Family Practice/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
