Practice Leader, Private Exchanges – Willis Towers Watson

Rob leads the Willis Towers Watson initiative for private exchanges in the Mid-Market space, bringing his exchange expertise to our clients and consultants. He has created and developed unique technology solutions for many of our clients and has led the transition of the Legacy Willis organization of consultants and advisors to embrace the changing benefit environment in the Private Exchange space. By championing an integrated, modern technology approach to benefits administration he introduced the national brokerage line of business to new opportunities. As part of the leadership team, he evaluated exchange vendor capabilities, developed and managed strategic partnerships, and positioned Willis Towers Watson as an unbiased leader in the exchange environment. Today, Rob manages the Mid-Market exchange initiative, driving collaboration and strategy across the organization to assist employers in modernizing their benefit delivery.

Rob has an operational background across many health benefit disciplines (including provider relations, contracting and medical management) focusing on business development of emerging product lines such as HMO development, Medicare and private exchange.

Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, Rob was V.P. of Sales for Extend Health (now part of Willis Towers Watson) the nation’s largest national private exchange. In this role, Rob worked with employers and consultants to address the needs of retiree populations, offering comprehensive national access and delivery solutions through Extend Health’s Medicare Exchange.

Rob has more than 35 years of experience, during which he has developed, implemented, and managed programs with a specific focus on emerging employer benefit strategies, and is a frequent speaker at national and regional conferences and events. He has a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude in Health Care Administration from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland.
